Lubricants for spinning, weaving, knitting and processing mills

A textile mill runs many machines at high speed for long hours. Spindles, looms, knitting machines and drive motors need light, clean oil and stable grease. A badly chosen oil can stain fabric, gum up fine parts or let a bearing run hot, and each of these stops a line or spoils cloth.

Lukeron Lubricants blends spindle oils, greases, compressor oils and heat transfer oils at its plant in Anandpar, Jamnagar district, Gujarat. We supply textile mills in drums and barrels, and we offer free samples so you can test a product on your own machines first.

Where a textile mill uses oil and grease

  • Spindles and spinning frames
  • Knitting machines, needles and needle plates
  • Looms and general machine points
  • High-speed motor and machine bearings
  • Stenters and thermic oil heating circuits
  • Air compressors for jet looms, yarn transport and controls

Spindle oil for spinning machines

Spindles turn at very high speed, so they use a very light, clean, oxidation-stable oil, usually in a low ISO viscosity grade (around ISO VG 5 to 22, depending on the machine). The wrong viscosity can cause heat, wear and uneven yarn. Follow the machine maker's grade, and keep the oil free of dust and fibre.

Knitting and needle oil

Knitting machines and sewing needles need an oil that lubricates the needle and needle plate and does not leave marks on the fabric. Water-soluble textile oils wash out easily in finishing, which suits garment and knitwear work. Use only the amount the machine needs.

High-speed bearing grease

Motors and machine bearings run fast and warm for long periods. A lithium complex grease of the right consistency (often NLGI 2) stays in place at speed and resists heat. Do not over-grease, because too much grease also makes bearings run hot. Re-grease on a fixed schedule.

Heat transfer (thermic) oil for stenters

Stenters and some drying and finishing machines are heated by hot oil circuits that run at high temperature. Thermic oil must resist breakdown at heat, because sludge and coke build up in the pipes and cut the heating. Check the oil on a schedule, and replace it when tests show it has aged.

Compressor oil for textile air systems

Many mills use compressed air for jet looms, yarn transport and controls. Screw and reciprocating compressors need a compressor oil of the right grade that resists oxidation and carbon build-up. Clean air lines mean fewer breakdowns.

How to choose the right lubricant

  • Start with the machine maker's manual.
  • Match the viscosity to the speed and temperature.
  • Choose oils that are light and non-staining where they can touch fabric.
  • Ask for a sample and test it on one machine first.
  • Set a re-oiling and greasing plan, and keep to it.

Frequently asked questions

Which oil is used in textile spindles?

Spindles use a very light spindle oil, usually in a low ISO viscosity grade of around VG 5 to 22. The machine maker's grade comes first. Tell us your machine and speed and we will suggest a match.

Do you have an oil that will not stain fabric?

For needle and knitting points we offer a water-soluble textile oil that washes out easily. Use only the quantity the machine needs.

What grease suits high-speed textile bearings?

A lithium complex grease of NLGI 2 is common for fast, warm bearings. Do not over-grease, and follow a regular re-greasing plan.

Can I get a sample before ordering?

Yes. Lukeron offers free samples to garages, OEMs and industries. Send your enquiry and we will arrange it.

How do I order for a textile mill?

Send your machine list, quantity and location. We pack in drums and barrels and reply within 1 to 2 business days. For urgent needs, call or WhatsApp +91 73832 79438.
